Field observations · October 2026

A little farther
up the hill.

An ordinary garden task turned into a small walkabout.

I started at the front of the house and took photographs before pulling the melon plants. Carrying them, I looked up the hill and decided where to take them.

Up there, I saw a trail. I followed it and found an open green area with nice grass. From that spot, I could see toward the wheelbarrow, too.

The grassy opening surrounded by young trees
A real photograph from the October walk.

I took photographs around me: toward the deck, to the right, over each shoulder, and through the foliage. Each view helps show how this small place fits into the land around it.

Something to come back to.

The opening became a possible spot for the Gnome Catcher crate. A photograph with the crate in place will help us understand its position and scale.

A small discovery to return to: the same spot, another season, another look.
